Hello everyone, my name is Kayleigh and I am an environmental activist, and owner of Red Winds Farm.
I refuse to use chemicals on my farm as these chemicals can be detrimental to the health of humans, animals and our water ways. My goal is to protect the Eco system, not contaminate it.
I decided to farm because I genuinely wanted to contribute and be apart of the movement of controlling our food supply. It truly is a labor of love and a statement. I was at an organic conference at Guelph University, where a speaker said that in the 1980's, there was approximately 7 organic farmers in that region, and today there are over 750-that inspires me.
To be honest, I just wanted to grab the bull by the horns, I went to Humber and Gaia college. I took courses for organic farming and I have done so much research on my own and have independently studied for years. I have farmed in Ecuador and completed volunteer conservation work in the Galapagos which is protected by government. I have had the privilege to have worked with animals all over the world in rehabilitation centers to help them recuperate and hopefully have a positive outcome, like release into a natural environment that they had once lost because of unnatural causes.
I started this company for social and environmental reasons, as opposed to economic.
The organic ethic and survival of small farms is important. Our goal at Red Winds Farm is to keep people and the environment as healthy as possible, by eliminating exposure to poisons intended to kill. We want to help everyone recognize that you can’t kill one part of an Eco cycle and interdependent food chain without causing problems somewhere else in the food chain. Our goal is to make sure everyone is eating the most nutritious and freshest food out there- so welcome to Red Winds Farm.
Gratitude,
Kayleigh
